Sweet Sauce a.k.a Tim Cheong

I love Chee Cheong Fun (Chinese Rice Noodle Roll) is my favourite breakfast, though I can find pretty decent Cheong Fun in the local Asian supermarket, the sauces provided is the Hong Kong sweet soy sauce which is not the same as what I am used to since young.

Ingredients: (Make 8 oz)
1 1/2 tbsp Fermented Soybean Paste (Taucu)
1 tbsp hoisin Sauce
1 tsp oil
1 1/2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp all purpose flour
1/2 cup water

1. Heat up 1 tsp of oil in a small pot, stir fry the taucu until fragrant, turn the heat to medium, add in sugar and cook until sugar dissolved completely.

2. Add all purpose flour and stir until well blended with soy paste, pour in 1/2 cup of water and bring to boil.

3. Now add the hoisin sauce and stir the sauce using a whisk, you can also blend the sauce using a handheld blender for smoother texture.

4. Continue cooking until the sauce is a tad runnier than you would like, remove from stove. Let cool, it will thicken as it cooled.

Store in airtight container and use it as and when needed, it could be use as condiment for Chinese Kuih and Cheong Fun.
